Starting today, the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Challenge will be posted on Thursday each week.
This week I’ve covered many kinds of dental care products – toothpaste, mouthwash, toothbrushes and dental floss.
This week’s Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to get into your medicine cabinet and check out your dental products.
- Have you bought toothpastes that include triclosan? Please pitch them and purchase a safer toothpaste.
- Does your mouthwash include Tartrazine or Retinyl Palmitate? Please stop gargling with these products and choose something safer.
- Is your dental floss made of plastic? Chances are it’s coated in BPA. Switch to a non-plastic floss.
- Does your teeth whitening product include Retinyl Palmitate or Triclosan? Throw it away and switch to a safer alternative.
- How does your toothbrush bristles look? If they’re pretty shabby, grab a new toothbrush – and use your old one for cleaning projects.
Talk back
Once you’ve completed the challenge, please share your experience on Facebook. Did you need to make a lot of changes or not so many?
