Happy Earth Day! I have eleven different ways to celebrate – and they all involve getting outside today:
1. Look at the clouds.
2. If it’s raining, don’t run from the raindrops. Feel how they can soak you.
3. If it’s sunny, give yourself a few minutes to bask in the sunlight.
4. Study a newly blooming spring flower.
5. As long as it’s not too cloudy, watch the sun rise or set. What colors do you see?
6. If you’re close to a body of water, stand on the shore. Listen and look.
7. Listen closely to the sounds of nature. What do you hear? Birds chirping? Leaves rustling?
8. Pick up a stone and study it. What does it feel like? What does it look like?
9. Go outside once it’s dark. Can you see the stars? The moon?
10. If you can go to a secluded natural place – a park or even your backyard – deeply inhale the fresh air. What scents can you detect?
11. Thank God for His creative creation.
