Wondering how you can reuse the old pantyhose stuffed in your dresser drawer?
Back in my middle school days, I thought that I was oh so old because I could start wearing pantyhose. What seemed like a treat at the time quickly became more of a burden as I realized how much better it felt to have bare legs when wearing dresses and skirts.
Because it’s been years since I’ve worked in the corporate world where I needed to wear pantyhose, I don’t wear it unless I’m going to a funeral, formal wedding, or job interview.
When I do wear it, I notice that it’s so old that the elastic around the waist has started to disintegrate, causing an extra-uncomfortable, saggy baggy elephant sort of a look and feel. Instead of instantly throwing it in the trash, though, I’ve found 9 ways to repurpose old pantyhose:
1. Make wool dryer balls in the toes of an old pair of pantyhose.
2. When your children are catching bugs in the summer, stretch a pantyhose leg over the top of the bug jar.
3. If you’re making your own stuffed animals – or simply repairing a favorite stuffed toy that’s lost some of its stuffing – use pantyhose.
4. If you’ve lost something tiny – a back of an earring or a Lego piece – find it quickly by slipping pantyhose over your vacuum cleaner’s nozzle and get sweeping. The suction will attract your missing piece quickly, and the pantyhose will protect it from getting sucked away.
5. Instead of buying a special mesh laundry bag for washing delicates, put them in a pantyhose leg. Knot the loose end … and don’t put in the dryer.
6. Protect your rolls of wrapping paper from wrinkles and tears by storing them in the legs of pantyhose.
7. In the winter, make your own draft dodgers for drafty windows and doors by stuffing pantyhose with old, rolled up T-shirts. (Knot the ends.)
8. In a pinch, use your pantyhose (new or old and snagged) as bungee cords.
9. Let your kids play tug of war with them. When I made my own dryer balls, my children had a blast stretching and pulling my old pair of pantyhose. Ah, how easily children can be entertained!

They are great to store onions! Just put in one at a time, tie a knot, next onion, knot. This way they do not rot, each is seperate. And you can just cut it open to get one out or untie from the top. Especially helpful if you have onions in the garden that are not dried enough yet.
They work great to cover the air intake vents for small tools and computers in dirty places. Helps them work longer!
(We have a farm and a computer in the barn)
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing, Charity!
