Are there any Veggie Tales fans out there? You might remember the song “Love My Lips,” where Larry sings: “If my lips ever left my mouth, packed a bag and headed south, that’d be too bad, I’d be so sad.”
Larry continues on with scenarios (“If my lips said ‘adios, I don’t like you I think you’re gross,’ that’d be too bad, I might get mad.”/”If my lips moved to Duluth, left a mess and took my tooth, that’d be too bad, I’d call my Dad.”) until he explains why it would be too bad:
“Because I love my lips.”

If you love your lips too, it’s important to take care of them! And this week’s challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to check the safety of your lipstick, lip gloss and lip balm.
1) Gather all of your lip products – find every tube of lipstick, lip gloss and lip balm you have. Grab your lip liners, too.
2) Recycle anything that’s older than two years old at the nearest Origins retails store or makeup counter. Dispose any products that are almost used up but you haven’t been able to part with.
3) Check the safety of your remaining products on the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database.

4) Are you pleased with the safety of your products? If so … great! If not, pick out some products that you’re interested in and go shopping.
Talk back
What did you discover as you checked the safety ratings of your lip products? If you needed to make a change, what did you decide to try? Did you throw much away? Please let me know by commenting below. Or, share your experience on Facebook.
