Earlier this week I shared a lot of information about shampoos – the good and the bad. And yesterday I confessed how I had been using a moderately hazardous “natural” shampoo without even knowing its dangers.
I’ve done my due diligence this week. I’ve checked my hair products with the Environmental Working Group’s Cosmetics Safety Database and gotten rid of hazardous products.
Now it’s your turn.
This week’s Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to dig out your shampoos, conditioners, hair sprays, gels, and mousses and search for their safety rankings on the Cosmetics Database.
What have you found? (Do any of your products contain parabens, retinol/retinyl palmitate, or oxybenzone? You might want to consider switching to something safer.) If you’re pleased with the safety ranking, then great! If not, how can you change to a safer product? Would you rather throw away your product, or can you repurpose it in another way?

Once you’ve completed the challenge, please comment below or share your experience on Facebook. Did you need to make a lot of changes or not so many?
