Long before I knew that many personal care products were made with toxic ingredients, I LOVED to shop twice a year at a popular store known for their fragrant perfumes, body washes, body lotions and soaps. I made a mental note of their spectacular semi-annual sales and would stock up on products for myself, as well as gifts.
Then I made the decision to buy products that I knew were safe. So my stops into the overly odorous store stopped.
The great news is that the safe moisturizers I’ve used over the past seven years are effective products – and I don’t have to worry about what I’m slathering on my skin.
So what do I use?
I tend to get a lot of lotion for gifts, so I haven’t had to purchase it for myself. I’ve been given Hugo Naturals All Over Lotion, Vanilla and Sweet Orange and Desert Essence Organics Body Care Hand and Body Lotion, Spicy Vanilla Chai
– and I’ve been trying Grandma’s Winter Hand Smoother. However, even with all of those products, I prefer to moisturize my skin with plain old coconut oil.
And for my excessively dry hands, I keep a bar of MadeOn Beesilk hard lotion in my purse. Since I typically think about moisturizing my hands when I’m on the go, it’s easy to rub between my hands and massage in the coconut oil/shea butter/beeswax blend. Plus, I absolutely love it because it’s not thick or sticky like typical lotions.
Lip service
My lips are rarely dry because I apply lip gloss every day. The lip glosses I choose to use are:
- MadeOn Tinted Lip Balm
- 100 Percent Pure Fruit Pigmented Lip Gloss
- Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer
- Badger Cocoa Butter Lip Balm.
