Safer Foundation Solutions

Yesterday I shared how toxins are found in cosmetic foundations – but women do have other options.

The great news is that there are hundreds of safe foundations! And you don’t have to break the bank to buy them.

Almay, L’Oreal, Maybelline, Physicians Formula, Revlon, Sally Hansen, and Wet ‘n Wild all carry safe foundation products. (Other boutique brands that are more expensive also carry safe foundations.)

Here’s the really important thing – you have to know what product you are looking for.

Even though L’Oreal, Maybelline, and Physicians Formula make safe foundations, they also sell other varieties of foundation that include toxins.

Know what you’re shopping for. Check the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep Cosmetics Database for the safety ratings and shop accordingly.

If you use foundation, take it out of your makeup bag and check its ranking on the Skin Deep Cosmetics Database. How does it rate? If it’s not a safe 0 to 2 ranking, what other product could you choose?
