On Wednesday I exposed the unsettling truth that many children’s bath products are filled with toxins. And, I promised to share what safe products I use with my own children.
Most nights, I just let Big Brother and Little Sister play in the water and I only rinse them with water. Ever since I learned more about the No Soap movement, I realize that every single bath doesn’t require soap.
Twice a week, though, my babies (Who am I kidding? They’re 2 and 4 … hardly babies anymore.) know that “hair washing night” means a complete bath.
For shampoo, I use a little squirt of EO Products Chamomile and Hibiscus Moisturizing Shampoo. (It took my family of four an entire year to finish one 32-ounce bottle … which ended up being a huge bargain.)
For soap, I pick from Kristy K’s homemade soap, a bar of plain old Ivory Soap, or I lather them with just a squirt of castile soap – almond, lavender
or peppermint
.
If their skin gets dry, I moisturize them after bathtime with a little dollop of coconut oil.
And, whenever Little Sister has diaper rash, I use Stacy Ogden’s Homemade diaper cream.
How about you?
What did YOUR family’s Accidentally Green week look like? Please e-mail stories and/or photos to accidentallygreen@gmail.com. I’ll share them with other readers on Thursdays.
Disclosure: Purchasing shampoo, castile soap, or coconut oil from Amazon.com via this post will result in a modest commission for Accidentally Green.
